Security sector reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia We successfully concluded the high-level conference on intelligence and security sector reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia. Key stakeholders, including judges, public prosecutors, institutional leaders and international partners, came together to discuss systemic challenges, institutional coordination and the impact of modern technologies on investigative tools. The conference also saw the official launch of the publication "Analysis of the Application of Special Investigative Measures in the Republic of North Macedonia". 27 May 2026

Challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia Together with Fight for Humanity, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform and the City of Geneva, DCAF hosted a panel discussion focused on the challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia and the importance of locally led reconciliation initiatives. One of the key lessons that emerged from the exchange was that sustainable peacebuilding requires inclusive and community-centered approaches in which women are recognized, not only as beneficiaries of protection, but also as active agents of peace and security. 22 May 2026

DCAF's first transnational organized crime workshop Organized crime adapts fast, and security institutions should too. DCAF hosted its first workshop on the relationship between security sector governance and transnational organized crime, exploring how better governance, stronger oversight, and more accountable institutions can be part of the solution. It brought together participants from diverse operational experiences: EU missions in Iraq, the European Commission, UN missions, as well as UK and Dutch missions working on security sector governance and transnational organized crime.  18 May 2026

Gender-responsive leadership approach in Ghana With support of the French MFA and together with the Kofi Annan International Centre for Peacekeeping Training, we co-organized a training on the FBA’s gender-responsive leadership approach in Ghana. The training brought together representatives of security institutions from five francophone troop- and police-contributing countries to UN peace operations: Benin, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Togo. It was an inspiring week of learning and collaboration with a dedicated group of leaders committed to strengthening inclusive leadership in peace operations. 15 May 2026

DCAF study on security concerns in border communities DCAF undertook a participatory mapping study on "understanding security concerns faced by border communities" in The Gambia. This initiative forms part of the Swiss-funded project "People-centred border governance: GIS project phase 2". It seeks to place community voices at the centre of border governance by examining lived experiences, identifying risks, and exploring practical pathways to strengthen accountability and service delivery, particularly in relation to the Gambia Immigration Department. 11 May 2026
