Including women in prevention, peacebuilding and peacekeeping leads to more democratic governance, economic recovery and reduced violence. - Ambassador Nathalie Chuard, DCAF Director
What does it take to bring the Women, Peace and Security Agenda to life? With 2025 marking 25 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, this is the perfect time to answer this question.
In this episode of the International Gender Champions podcast, DCAF Director Nathalie Chuard outlines concrete steps and provides real-world examples of how to meaningfully integrate the Women, Peace and Security Agenda into peacebuilding and security operations.
Every year, the DCAF Director makes commitments as an International Gender Champion, including not participating in single-sex panels, adopting a zero-tolerance approach to gender-based violence, and sexist attitudes and behaviours in the workplace. DCAF is committed to engaging with security sector actors to promote gender equality and intersectional approaches in addressing discrimination and injustice through security sector governance.
