DCAF had the honour of welcoming Federal Councillor Martin Pfister to our Geneva headquarters. The visit reaffirmed Switzerland’s strong commitment to accountable, transparent, and inclusive security institutions.
Discussions focused on Ukraine, gender and security, peacekeeping, and training. Switzerland, which created DCAF 25 years ago, remains our key partner in advancing democratic security sector governance worldwide.
Earlier this month, 19 participants from Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs graduated from DCAF’s training-of-trainers programme on integrity and gender. Co-delivered with alumni of the first cohort, the course equips facilitators with skills to strengthen integrity, professionalism, and public trust in law enforcement.
17 Sep 2025To mark the anniversary of the creation of the 3 Geneva Centres, together with GCSP and GICHD, we contributed to an opinion piece published in La Tribune de Genève.
In it, our Director Nathalie Chuard, alongside her fellow Directors, reflects on today’s geopolitical upheavals, humanitarian crises, climate challenges, and shifting security threats. The piece underscores why building peace every day requires rethinking governance models at both local and international levels.
15 Sep 2025DCAF supported Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs in shaping its 2026–2030 strategic priorities, a milestone in the country’s journey toward aligning with EU standards. Through a three-day workshop and a high-level conference attended by EU Commissioner Marta Kos, Moldova unveiled reforms to modernize public services, strengthen border protection, and improve citizen-focused governance. Key priorities include human rights-based policing, stronger cybercrime prevention, EU-aligned migration and asylum policies and modernized disaster response.
12 Sep 2025As part of the Elsie Programme, DCAF trained 25 members of the Public Security Directorate’s gender unit and focal points in Amman. The sessions strengthened skills in designing gender-responsive Theories of Change, applying gender analysis, and developing project proposals. An open-access e-learning course in Arabic on integrating gender in project design will soon be available to support police and security professionals across the region.
