DCAF delegation trip to The Hague A DCAF delegation traveled to The Hague for two days of strategic exchanges with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Justice and Security. Security sector governance course in Stans In Stans, in the heart of Switzerland’s mountains, we wrapped up our third security sector governance and reform course with the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport at the Swiss Armed Forces International Command, welcoming participants from all across the globe. One message stood out: in times of democratic backsliding, security governance is not a technical issue, it’s central to trust and legitimacy. And if security doesn’t include everyone, it ultimately serves no one.   27 Mar 2026

Strengthening Moldova’s new crisis management system In Chisinau, DCAF, in partnership with the National Crisis Management Centre of Moldova, organized a one-day workshop bringing together operational coordinators from central public authorities to strengthen understanding of Moldova’s new crisis management system. As the country advances the implementation of its new legal framework, the workshop focused on translating legislation into practice, ensuring effective preparedness and coordination across all governance levels, with over 40 participants from over 20 institutions engaged. 24 Mar 2026

Institutionality, governance and the state in Latin America DCAF participated in a panel discussion on “Institutionality, Governance and the State in Latin America”, held as part of the LANI Annual Congress: "Beyond Asymmetries – Latin America as an Architect of Global Development" in Geneva. The panel explored how increasingly security-focused policy responses and the use of exceptional measures in several Latin American countries are reshaping democratic institutions, governance, and the rule of law.  20 Mar 2026

Expert roundtable on IHL in AI-enabled military systems DCAF cohosted with the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN in Geneva and the Canadian Red Cross, an expert roundtable on “Operationalizing International Humanitarian Law in AI-enabled and autonomous military systems”, exploring how gender analysis and the WPS agenda can strengthen responsible, lawful use of military AI. This event marks the third expert roundtable of the IHL Community of Practice on WPS, convened by DCAF as part of its programme on “Advancing WPS and gender perspectives in IHL”, supported by the Government of Liechtenstein. 16 Mar 2026
