Advancing the WPS agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina DCAF carried out a mission to assess the implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda within the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mission involved meetings with senior officials, as well as workshops and focus group discussions with personnel. Field visits to military barracks offered a valuable opportunity to observe progress directly on the ground. The goal of this review was to identify both achievements and challenges, share lessons learned, and outline the next steps for advancing gender equality in the country. 28 May 2025

Laying the groundwork for support in Syria As part of our commitment to a people-centred approach and local ownership, DCAF is taking concrete steps in the scoping phase for Syria, leading up to the design of a potential support programme. A key initiative in this process involves convening a Syrian Reference Group, which brings together Syrian academics, experts, and activists to test, explore, validate, and refine ideas that will help shape a potential DCAF support programme in Syria. The group recently met to advance this work. This initiative follows our first scoping mission to Damascus and will be further developed during a second mission in the coming months. 14 May 2025
