On Tuesday 07 April, the Studio Kalangou radio programme, which broadcasts its content on forty partner radio stations throughout Niger, produced and aired a forum about the role played by defence and security forces (DSF) in tackling Covid-19. This is just one example of the radio programmes and web content produced by the partnership between DCAF and Studio Kalangou, and its national network of Nigerien journalists, in order to give professional and impartial media coverage to security sector governance. The live panel consisted of Commander Yahaya Massalatchi (director of public relations and sports of the National Gendarmerie), Police Inspector Mamane Mahamane (head of information and public relations at the National Police) and Chief Physician Boubé Abdou (director of health services and social action of the National Guard). In view of the great speed with which the virus spreads, all nations are striving to adopt preventive measures which range from a ban on mass gatherings to a restriction on the movement of people. Nigerien DSF are doing their bit to help tackle the crisis. You can download and listen to the forum here (French language). |
