Assessment Security Sector Governance in the Pacific for United Nations Development Program

In 2022-2023, DCAF supported the UNDP’s Pacific Office in assessing the security sector landscape in the Pacific and provide potential entry points and opportunities for programming.

DCAF wrote several reports, one focussing on the regional situation including existing regional coordination bodies, security frameworks, existing links and cooperation, and accountability systems. The second report focussed more specifically on Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Palau, the Federates States of Micronesia, and Tonga for national-level reviews of security sector structures, opportunities, and challenges.

The reports are not publicly available, but also build on previous older research such as the report “Enhancing Security Sector Governance in the Pacific Region: A Strategic Framework”.
