The Security and Defence Network of Latin America develops mapping study on security actors in Latin America and the Caribbean

In Latin America and the Caribbean, the Security and Defence Network of Latin America (RESDAL) (based in Argentina and Uruguay) has produced a mapping study of the mandates and competencies of security actors in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The mapping study allows civil society to build expertise on the functions of security actors in the region, in particular the mandates and powers of security providers and whether these correspond with available data on their conduct and performance as well as with international standards and norms. In doing so, it contributes to SDG 16.6 and SDG 16.10.
