The Parliamentary Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee visits private and state institutions in Georgia

In Georgia, the Chair of the Parliamentary Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee visited private and state institutions including penitentiaries, care facilities for the elderly, and centres for substance abuse treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic, to report on challenges and progress and to provide recommendations.

As external visitors were temporarily prohibited from visiting these institutions, visits by the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, facilitated through its oversight mandate, were particularly important to ensuring the wellbeing and protection of populations in these facilities.
