In Georgia, the Public Defender (Ombudsperson) has engaged in monitoring of the human rights situation near the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL), by undertaking field visits to populations living in close proximity to the conflict zone.
These visits are important because, in addition to allowing the Ombudsperson to monitor the conditions in which people are living or their socio-economic situation, the Ombudsperson can also provide these populations with comprehensive information regarding their own rights.
