Who we are

DCAF provides medium- to long-term support to local, national and regional stakeholders in Africa and the Americas to develop effective security institutions that are accountable to the state and its citizens.

Our main areas of work include:

• support to the development and implementation of regional norms
• strategic and operational advice to governments to ensure well-coordinated and holistic reforms
• strengthening of internal accountability and control mechanisms in security institutions
• support to external oversight actors, including parliaments, independent bodies and civil society
