[Burkina Faso] Niger and Burkina Faso share their experiences of preparing and developing policies

A Nigerien delegation, acting in representation of the National Strategic and Security Study Centre (CNESS) and with the support of DCAF, visited the General Secretariat of National Defence (SGDN) of Burkina Faso from October 3 to 9. The aim of the week-long visit was to identify and share best practices relating to the preparation and development of internal security policies. The delegation was able to speak to key partners from the relevant ministries in Ouagadougou, civil society members active in security sector reform and representatives from the National Centre for Security Studies (CNES) in Burkina Faso. A memorandum of understanding was concluded with the CNESS of Burkina Faso with a view to enhancing cooperation between the two bodies. The Nigerien delegation was given a brief insight into the kind of work that Burkina Faso has been doing in the past three years to reform and formulate policies, and was also given the chance to share its experiences of the important role that strategic centres can play in shaping policy.
