Advancing police integrity in North Macedonia As part of our ongoing efforts in North Macedonia, we recently facilitated a high-level roundtable discussion and workshop on police integrity and the role of police managers. This initiative aimed to enhance institutional accountability, strengthen ethical leadership, and reinforce the responsibilities of police managers in upholding integrity within the security sector. By strengthening dialogue and capacity-building, we are supporting the continuous development of transparent and professional policing structures. 19 Mar 2025

Supporting civil society organisations in Mali We supported six programmes proposed by civil society organisations in Mali recently. They covered a range of activities from security sector reform, to establishing forums for dialogue on communal security for women and youth, to tackling road safety, and raising awareness about the risks faced by people with disabilities. We empowered civil society members, particularly youth and women, to actively engage in co-producing safety and participating in the governance of the security sector. 14 Mar 2025

They covered a range of activities from security sector reform, to establishing forums for dialogue on communal security for women and youth, to tackling road safety, and raising awareness about the risks faced by people with disabilities. Developing strategic SSG/R skills with the African Union We were recently in Addis, for a joint workshop with the African Union Commission, on strengthening the Union’s strategic security sector governance and reform capacity. With lessons learned from The Gambia and Lesotho, this meeting allowed us to take stock of the work done so far and discuss concrete recommendations. Local ownership is a key value for us, so at DCAF we are continuously working with our partners to develop strategic security sector reform skills and frameworks that allow us to enshrine this. 12 Mar 2025
