Improving the gender balance in security sector leadership in Georgia Last week we were pleased to be part of a two-day mentoring workshop in Tbilisi for women from the Georgian Defence Forces and Ministry of Defence. It was part of a five-month leadership programme designed to support women’s career advancement in the military that brings together women from across the ranks and units as well as senior male leaders. In addition to skill development, the workshop presented the new mentoring scheme for women in the Ministry. The DCAF-UN Women supported Women’s Leadership Programme is possible thanks to the financial support of the United Kingdom.  27 Sep 2023

Sharing knowledge and expertise across DCAF’s teams Last year DCAF produced more than 100 knowledge products to support our partners and stakeholders and to inform policy discussions on SSG/R at the national and international levels. But we don’t just share it with outsiders. We hold regular internal knowledge-sharing events to ensure all staff are up-to-date on our work and new developments. This month Inka Lilja, Riina Allinen, and Alexander Burian did a session on the MOWIP methodology which helps countries to increase gender equality in national security institutions and, in turn, increase the number of women in UN peace operations.  25 Sep 2023
