In its research program on security sector reform and sustainable development, DCAF examines the various crossroads of SSR interventions and development work.
DCAF's core support on linking security and sustainable development is through their work on supporting the aims of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG16) on promoting peace, justice and strong institutions. More information on this work can be found here.
In addition, DCAF also provides original research on the interlinkages between security and sustainable development in other realms. Recognizing the need for sustainable solutions in the face of emerging security challenges in the cities, DCAF seeks to identify entry points for SSR in urban contexts, providing support to SDG11.
The program also aims at better understanding the roles that security forces can play in combatting global health crises and contributing to SDG3.
