Nicola Brassil is Project Officer in the Southeast Europe Division at DCAF. She is responsible for the implementation of activities to foster security sector governance and oversight primarily in countries of South Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on assistance activities in Kosovo.
Prior to joining DCAF, Nicola worked with EULEX Kosovo's gender mainstreaming office, conducting research into police and prosecutor responses to domestic violence. She supported a violence prevention campaign in Kosovo on behalf of UN Women, and worked for women's and minority rights civil society organisations in Pristina. Most recently, Nicola supported child friendly reform within justice and security institutions in Uganda, working on UNICEF's justice for children programme,
Nicola holds a first class honours degree in human rights from the University of Essex (MA), and in psychology from the National University of Ireland Galway (BA).
