Mr. Maxime Poulin is the Deputy Head of Office for the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) in Tunisia. He assists the Chargé de Mission in the management of the Tunis office, and with the implementation and management of the mission's programs - particularly with regards to the Ministry of National Defense and the Assemblée des Representants du Peuple. Prior to joining DCAF, Mr. Poulin was a political & policy advisor with the Government of Canada, noticeably serving for the Canadian Ministery of Foreign Affairs and, later on, to the Leader of the Official Opposition. It is after occupying these positions that he joined the Washington based 'National Democratic Institute', occupying advisory and managing positions. Mr. Poulin also acted as the Development Director for the Montreal based 'Rights & Democracy'.
Mr. Poulin's career also led him to work in advisory positions in countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea (Conakry), Haïti, Iraq, Mauritania and Myanmar.
Maxime Poulin holds a degree in History from the Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, Canada) and a master's degree in Public Communications from the Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada). Maxime Poulin is a native French speaker and also speaks English and Spanish.
