Africa: Policy Research
DCAF's African policy research seeks to enhance geographical as well as thematic knowledge on security sector reform (SSR) and security sector governance (SSG) in Africa. Our priority is to engage with and support African-driven scholarship and practice. Research is therefore a key dimension of our strategic partnership with the African Security Sector Network (ASSN).
DCAF's target audience includes the range of actors involved in SSR-related activities in Africa. These include governments, regional organisations, UN bodies, civil society organisations and academic institutions. We seek to disseminate publications widely in order to promote discussion and awareness of SSR/SSG issues and approaches. DCAF therefore actively promotes publications in French and English language versions in order to reach as wide an audience as possible.
DCAF develops and publishes cutting edge policy research in our area of expertise. We welcome proposals for new publications from interested researchers, policy-makers and practitioners. For further details please contact Alan Bryden, Deputy Head of Research.
