Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie

The Organisation Internationale of the Francophonie (OIF) is involved in promoting democracy, conflict prevention and settlement, good governance and the rule of law through the Délégation à la Paix, à la Démocratie et aux droits de l'Homme  (DDHDP). Since the adoption of the Saint Boniface declaration  in 2006, OIF is also strongly involved in promoting human security, notably in terms of gender sensitivity. DCAF works with the OIF to support SSR and SSG efforts in the OIF's member states and governments. OIF also has permanent observer status on the DCAF Foundation Council .

Key examples of OIF-DCAF cooperation include:

  • promoting of the French version of the DCAF Gender Toolkit , in cooperation with the Canadian and French Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
  • leading working sessions on gender and SSR under the framework of the OIF's inter-parliamentary SSR oversight seminars
  • supporting translation of DCAF publications into French and simultaneous French interpretation at DCAF events
